Release 1.33

3 new features that will change the way you work with Sophora.

Publishing Planner: Multiple Time Periods for Document Components

It is now possible to define multiple publication periods for components on the time scheduling tab of the document editor. This feature may be used e.g. to show a teaser several times a day, week or month on the homepage.

Sophora's improved Publishing Planner helps editors to keep homepages fresh and relevant at all times and to optimize click streams.

Permissions on Document Fields & Document Tabs

In addition to restrict editing of input fields by document permissions it is now possible to make input fields editable only for users having a certain role. Only administrators and users who belong to at least one of the specified roles are allowed to edit the field. For all other users the field appears read only. The required roles can be selected within the property configuration wizard of the administrator section of the DeskClient by a role picker.

In some cases users should not be allowed to edit or even read a certain set of document properties, e.g. properties that are relevant for another editorial department only. To handle this case those properties can be configured on a separate document tab which now can be restricted for users.

With permissions on document fields & document tabs, we've improved Sophora's multi-tenancy capabilities without compromising the core feature to share document types across different departments.

For Developers: Identifier for Components, Component Groups and Paragraph Images

Components and component groups of documents as well as paragraph images of the copytext now have identifiers.

The identifiers are unique in documents scope and accessable by the property named sophora:childNodeId in each document's child node of type sophora-nt:referencesophora-extension-nt:group or sophora-extension-nt:paragraphimage and corresponding API methods.

With the new possibility to identify components or component groups it is possible to track user clicks on teasers or improve caching in your web application.

New Add-On: Feed-Manager

Editors can now directly create new Sophora documents by importing items from external XML feeds. Within a new view, which displays subscribed feeds on the left and the corresponding entries of each feed on the right, editors can search feeds, browse through feeds and import the items. Sophora will then automatically create a new document, for instance, a story for the imported item. READ MORE ...

Back Up Your Personal Window Layout

Editors can now save and restore their personal window layout; which is the order of views within the DeskClient. Once a personal window layout has been saved, users can restore it at any time. Interested in some technical details? Read more in Torsten Witte's blog entry.

Complete Export for Administrators

Finally! Administrators can now export all items of Sophora's Administration View at once, i.e. the entire configuration of your repository. Instead of exporting the individual documents and configurations one by one, you can do this in a single step now.

Script Monitoring

Sophora's scripting mechanism is a very powerful feature, but needs to be handled with care. With the new release Sophora provides more information about your custom running scripts via Sophora's JMX interface.
