Sophora Delivers the News for the ZDFheute-App and zdf.de
Emerging news and video content are fail-safe, even during peak traffic times and high hit rates.
Since the relaunch of heute.de and the ZDFheute app in October 2017, fully responsive, redesigned versions of the portal and app have direct access to news videos. And of course, the new versions of the portal and app are now supported by Sophora. Users can call up all content quickly and directly. The multichannel CMS is extremely fail-safe even during the highest video viewing periods as the content is played out on autonomous servers.
The ZDF is doubly reliant upon Sophora. Michael Bartsch, editorial manager of heute.de, reveals that the focal point of ZDF’s news offer is the ZDFheuteApp. “With the relaunch, we wanted to make ZDF news more accessible. The ZDFheute app is our most important channel. Fifty percent of ZDF’s usage happens on the app. Therefore, the app stood at the center of the relaunch."
With the ZDF relaunch, the subshell CMS once again showed its high communication competence. The ZDF project manager Annette Koch, who led the editorial relaunch, emphasized that, “The team of heute.de can, with Sophora, publish in tri-media either videos and texts by app, on the web, or via teletext, all without any additional effort."
In 2016, the ZDF had already merged all content of zdf.de and the ZDF library – all based on the Sophora CMS.
